protection of the pier will be necessary. Should it,
however, be found that protection is required, the Camber
suggested for the purpose by Mr. Lindsey would be available
as a wharf for Steemers of the draught of vessels engaged
in the coasting trade. In any event it is proposed to
preserve running powers over the siding to the Wharf end
Godown Company's premises, and this would serve to meet
the Ferry Service to the Company's pier at Tsim Sha Tsui
in the event of the service to the Railway Ferry Pier
being suspended in very rough weather, and a Flag Station
can be located in the vicinity if found advisable.

The justification of laying the
siding to the Wharf and Godown's premises along Salisbury
Road.
The location of the siding to the
Wharf and Godown Company's premises is one which has in-
-volved the discussion of many alternative proposals.
Under Scheme III the length of this siding is increased,
but only in consequence of the fact that the length of the
main line is decreased, and as Hr. Lindsey has shown,
the
profit which is likely to accrue to the Railway from the
earnings of the siding apart from the question of rent
which is receiving consideration
will fully justify the
expenditure.
